Guanacaste is considered the tourist destination par excellence of Costa Rica. The province has diverse attractions that include beach, mountains, rivers, lakes and forests, which have been highlighted on many occasions. National and foreign tourism is attracted by the opportunity to carry out activities that invite you to relax, forget stress and enjoy, as well as practice water sports, extreme sports, walks and observation of
biodiversity. The province experiences little rain and consistent heat from November to April, resulting in ubiquitous tropical dry forests. Most of the population descends from a mix of Chorotega natives and Spaniards, with a signifi cant African admixture. Among the main cultural elements are music, literature (folklore), musical instruments, bullfi ghting, and religious events. Guanacaste’s beaches are very popular in Costa Rica for their biological richness, their great scenic appeal, and various recreational activities, and ideal hot climate.
